Road workin coming out of Marble Falls

Seems like everytime I go down 1431 there isnt anyone working on the road while its been a nice day outside. Anyone know why the road isnt getting worked on? Havnt been by there today yet so not sure if they workers showed up or not. Seems like the workers working outside of Burnet are working even when its muddy.

This construction is really really really starting to get on my nerves. Thankfully, MFPD usually has an officer manually cycling the light at Ave U and 1431.

This construction is also very dangerous. I don't know how many accidents have been in the location, but it is just an accident waiting to happen.

There have been no more collisions in the area than there would be normally. As is typical with collisions in Marble Falls the majority of them are caused by folks not paying attention and not yielding the right of way to other vehicles.

I have not noticed any more accidents then normal through there since the construstion started. It's always been a bad place especially if some do not pay attention.
I just hope whomever holds the contract hurrys up and gets'er done! It is a pain at peak traffic times for sure!

Roadway still too wet

I was talking with the TxDot Engineering Office in Burnet yesterday. The road base must be totally dry before they can work it. Otherwise there will be base failure and potholes in the road. Our rains have been coming along so regularly that the base just doesn't get a chance to totally dry out.

Hunter Construction would much rather be working than their equipment sitting idle for so long. The men working for Hunter would much rather be drawing a pay check than not getting to work. Fortunately Hunter has picked up several other jobs and is able to keep some working.

Because of safety issues and the barracades, they must finish the north side, then move the traffic over on that side and do the south side of the road.

I, for one, am not complaining about the rains. But I do feel sorry for the men not able to work.

Okay, so, would there be possibility that the construction has ceased not only to allow for recent rains to dry out, but also, because of the high volume of large truck traffic associated with the Granite business moving granite to Matagorda and Galveston?
I just have to say, I really appreciate the Burnet Co. Sheriff Dept. vehicles that are "manning" the
area at 1431 & 1980. However, it would really be nice if the BCSD SUV that parks in the right or fast lane a quarter mile back - west of 1980 would consider those that need the use of that lane to proceed on to the turn lane at 1980 and not have to sit in a half mile of traffic just to get to the turn lane at the red light. It slows them down as well and contributes to the congestion for those using the straight away into Marble Falls. .......just sayin'.

Posting your suggestion here probably won't get it to the right people. Call the Sheriff's Office with your suggestion 512-756-8080. Let us know what happens.

I was almost rearended coming home from town this afternoon by a driver on a cell phone not paying attention to the car turning into Mustand Trailer Park.
Returning from my second trip into town I was again almost rearended by a driver that was under the impression the speed limit did not apply to him.
That section is becoming more dagerous with the increased traffic flow!

This happens on US 281, Ave N, Bluebonnet, etc etc etc.. the road is not any more dangerous than it has been over the last 6 months, you just happened to have a higher concentration of inattentive drivers around you today.
