Charlene Eppright, a noted Austin pastelist and portrait painter, with one of her featured works of children. MARBLE FALLS, TX (Aug. 27, 2009) - If you like your culture in big bites and your food and drink in small bites, then Riverbend Fine Art Gallery in Marble Falls will be the place to be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 9. Patrons and the public can expect both surprises and prizes at the free event, which will feature actors emoting, an at-work artist and refreshments, compliments of the Gallery and the HCCT Theatre Guild.

“Cast members from the classic Neil Simon comedy ‘Plaza Suite,’ opening at the Hill Country Community Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 10, for a 12-performance run, will discuss the show and preview a hilarious scene,” said Marta Stafford, Gallery Director of the 15-year old gallery at 710 First St. (www.riverbendfineart.com )

“Simultaneously, Austin-based artist Charlene Eppright (www.ceppright.com/) will be creating a painting that reflects one of the play’s themes - romance, fidelity, marriage, parenting,” Stafford added. “Eppright, a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists, has focused her attention primarily in oil and pastel portraits for almost 30 years.”

Eppright’s work, exhibited in shows and galleries around Texas and New Mexico, has http://www.marblefalls.info/articles/2009/08/photos/2455070-95552-2.jpg?id=3828608190 (http://www.marblefalls.info/articles/2009/08/2455070-95552.html#)
Preston and Ronda Dale Kirk of Spicewood lock horns as "Roy" and "Norma Hubley" in rehearsing the Neil Simon comedy "Plaza Suite." won numerous awards. Not only has she been judged, but she paints the judges -- the retiring district court judges for the Travis County Bar Assn., the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Appeals. She also specializes in the Native American Indian as well as children’s portraits.

“Recently, this artist has been enjoying landscape painting, especially in European countries,” Stafford noted. “She’s also a member of the Austin Pastel Society, which she co-founded in 1998 and Plein Air Austin.”

Preston and Ronda Dale Kirk of Spicewood, a couple in the play’s story as well as real life, will provide a selected scene from Act I. The play is, in effect, three one-act plays all set in a single suite of New York’s famous Plaza Hotel. Other cast members include Jonathan Clark, Stan Farmer, Jennifer Holland and Kristy Morris.

Jim McDermott, HCCT’s Executive Director, will talk briefly about the playwright and the staying power of the 40-year-old play, which also was made into a movie with Walter Matthau and Jean Stapleton.

Show Tickets . . . Special Hotel Rates . . . Art Discounts

“Attendees that evening will have a chance to win two free tickets to the show (Sept. 10-27),” Stafford emphasized. “Additionally, every piece of artwork in our gallery will be discounted 10% for the run of the show.

“Also, the Hampton Inn and the La Quinta Inn will offer discounts on their standard rooms in that same time period to any guest who mentions the gallery, the theatre or the play when making a reservation. Hampton rooms, for example, which regularly start at $109, will be $85, a 22% discount,” she said. hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?cty...
