I know it isn't really in our backyard, but.. you can listen in and participate right from your own home - no need to travel!

The Songwriters Showcase on Radio Free Texas (http://www.radiofreetexas.org/) celebrates its first birthday with a day long celebration at the Tin Roof Steakhouse (http://www.tinroofsteakhouse.com/) in Boerne on Sunday, November 15, from 1pm to 7pm. The Texas Songwriters Showcase will feature an afternoon of music, raffle prizes, and fundraising to support the Warrior and Family Support Center of Fort Sam Houston (http://www.fortsamhoustonmwr.com/vsm/page.asp?pid=135), which provides coordinated services to wounded soldiers and their families on their road to recovery upon return from overseas service.

Texas Singer/Songwriters will join together to help raise money for the Center. Performing Artists include: Walt & Tina Wilkins, John Arthur Martinez, Adam Carroll, Owen Temple, Tres Womack, Jeff Strahan, Red Dvorak, David Fenley, James Pardo, Dustin Welch, Matt Harlan, Shannon Cain, Mike Ethan Messick and Mark Jungers. The event will be open to the public, and donations for the Warrior and Family Support Center will be accepted at the door.

“We are excited to not only be commemorating the first anniversary of the Songwriters Showcase, but to also recognize the contributions to our armed forces by the Fort Sam Houston Warrior and Family Support Center – an outstanding facility that gives back to the military community by providing valuable and much needed services to the soldiers that serve and protect our country,” said Dave Maisano, of Radio Free Texas. “This is an opportunity for us to contribute and raise funds for the organization while also celebrating the tremendous talent and creative spirit of the musicians and songwriters that have performed on the Songwriters Showcase weekly series.”

If you can’t make it to Boerne, have no fear. The show will be broadcast live on Radio Free Texas (http://www.radiofreetexas.org/) and you will still be able to make donations via the Virtual Tip Jar. Let’s see how much we can raise for this great cause while we enjoy a great afternoon of FREE LIVE music. There are still a couple of sponsor openings - which can be huge. This is a worldwide broadcast, not just local, and we do have people who will be listening in from the UK and Europe, along with all 50 states and several Canadian provinces. You will get nice billing, believe me.

So, come on out for a great cause or enjoy from home. Either way you will get to enjoy some outstanding LIVE Texas music. If you want to donate but are not comfortable donating online, by all means hit me up on a private message and we will work it out. I will be at River City Grille tomorrow night for Mike Blakely, Johnny Greenberg with Tom Gilliam, and then again on November 3rd for john Arthur martinez and Mike Blakely.

Countryboy, Radio Free Texas only costs if you choose to subscribe. There are thousands and thousands that listen for free. Now, if you want to be a paying member, the maximum is $15 a month but... you also get a free CD every month with that as well as access to other special downloadable material. It's really like public television without the membership drives.
