Alright, let's get something straight. There's an unwritten law that when you drive a JEEP, you must wave. It's called..........."The JEEP Wave". It doesn't matter if you just bought it, won't get it dirty, and you think you're hot stuff.
I learned to drive back in the 60's in a '56 JEEP. I've since owned 5 more. I've driven them off the lot, and bought them on blocks. Old, new, it doesn't matter. New Jeep drivers look down their noses at old Jeep drivers because theirs is shiny and new. Old JEEP drivers look down their noses at the young pups that don't know what a JEEP is even for, except looking cool.
It's time to draw a truce, understand that you have decided to join in on a timeless tradition of driving a JEEP, and embrace all of those of like mind.
WAVE !!!!

Don't know, you sound guilty though. If you're not sure, you're probably not following the code. My red '81 CJ is kinda hard to miss with two dogs hanging out the side.

Yeah I think I've seen your Jeep out and about. I usually wave unless I'm distracted by the wife and kids in the Jeep. We have a steel blue Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Right now the hard top is on it.
I'll wave at you too Chip! Don't own a Jeep, but wanted one, does that count? :cool2:

It should be on page 1 of the owners manual. Mandatory in any Jeep vehicle. I don't know why. It comes from a higher power.
Yea Janet, you might as well start the learning process. When your day comes, you'll be ready.
Toni, I've got 1000# of soybean and corn at the house that needs planting down in Webb County. If I'm in town, I'll come out.

Only had a postal jeep in the 70s but waving was the norm. I always had to look close to make sure all the fingers were there.

Dear, dear folks, As a fifth generation Texan...from West Texas...I thought everyone knew you just raise your index finger as your hand is resting on the stirring wheel. You see someone really waving, it's a sign of distress. Now folks with poor eyesight may not recognize which finger is up. But country folk just know the right one is up, raise theirs and keep on truckin...

Yes - this is the generally accepted way of waving. If you wave your whole hand at people you'll scare them and they'll be like this: :pistols:

Now of course the only other truly accepted way in Texas, is the hookemwave:rockon:and we are not likely to see the Chipper give over to that !

That's the reason I started this thread/rant. It is supposed to ba a given. Like I said, it seems that the new generation of JEEP drivers just don't get it.

I've noticed that the waves come more when the top is off the Jeep. The 4-door Wrangler Unlimited has brought a lot of people into the Jeep community that otherwise would have bought a different SUV. A lot of them don't seem to recognize the heritage and community that goes along with Jeep ownership. "It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand."
