Still working out a couple of kinks. The imported users are showing up as 'Guest' and post count as N/A. Working on it...

timflan,
Are you sure? I just went to the classifieds and didn't see anything that says you have to pay

This site seems to load much faster and is a format that I am very familiar with using.

Thanks

This is great, like a real online forum!! LOL. I'll have to check into the advertising rates again.

I'll still miss the old site. Call it sentiment, or whatever. It was slower, kinda like me, and the town I moved to. Oh well, progress will overtake us all.

Looks good Chris. Great job as usual.

Thought I would stick my head in and have a look around :secret:....looks nice. I wonder if it has sold or took on a partner? either way it is an improvement.

FYI the Classifieds are $5 to post an ad. I'll add more documentation shortly.

Hi Folks,

For those folks that are not happy with having to pay $5.00 to place a ad. I for one, am tickled to death with the new forum. The Old one was sooooo slow. I might admit that I am one that is slow to change when I get comfortable with something. But in this case, this has been a wonderful change of progress.

For years i have thought about posting a ideal that we all donate something to Chris to help him approve the old site. I travel the internet a lot, and I can honestly say the old forum was the slowest site that I ever encountered.

Now Chris has expanded & Improved & provided us with a good looking, easy site to use with no cost to us. I have no ideal what this has cost him, but I can image it took some bucks to do.

I guess my point is I have no problem with Chris charging $5.00 to place a ad. If I ever need to place a ad, I will not have a problem with it. In fact, I will know that I am contributing & helping with costs of something that is, and has been, a valuable asset to the Highland Lakes area.

So, I hope those of you that have a problem with the $5.00 ad cost, rethink it & maybe think a little like I do. I like freebies just like everybody else, but in this case, what a small price to pay. Money well spent and for a good cause too!

Now Chris, from the millions that yor are going to make from charging $5.00 for a ad, please e-mail me & I will provide you with my address, so that you can send me my cut of the profits!! :)

Mike

Apple IIe, I could have sworn it was a commodore pet...:smack:
About classifieds, if we use this forum to promote the activities and the people of this area, the site will draw visitors, the more visitors the more folks who will view the classifieds, the more viewers the better chances you have of selling things, 5 bucks isn't alot of money for an ad and it costs a lot to run these sites. I know, I run 2 news sites myself and I'm getting ready to implement the same thing.

It boils down to, if you want free access to the news and information (which I do) there has to be a way to pay the bills and pay-per-click and classifieds are one way to do it.....

And of course, when Chris and Michelle start raking in the millions upon millions they're going to be more than happy to share it with all of us.....:D

A Commodore Pet?? :oldfogey:

LOL! I had almost forgotten such a thing even existed. I remember those from elementary school! They were stacked in the corner when we got our Apples!

The scary truth of the matter is Chris does have a couple Apple IIe's laying around here. He refuses to get rid of them because the first computer game he ever wrote won't work on anything else.

I'm a member of three VB format forums and pay for all three. A small fee for classified is no biggie.

I can't fault Chris for hanging on to them, after using my iphone for almost a year, I'm ready to look at a Mac.
