What's the deal with the little train and bounce room? Are these drawing income for the city, and does the income offset the damage to the grass done by this train. They are there friday through the weekend, and parked semi permanently behind the bathrooms. They cross the road and interfere with traffic in a location where drivers NEED to be watching for children.
What gives?

It is approved by the city council for a 3 month trial I believe.

The little engine that could idea wont last long. The city will see that the revenues will be a wash or loss.. Plus having it run only in the park area is not that exciting..In the future once they get the hike and bike trails in place and maybe allow the train to go all over the trails..Then it may show to be profitable..Now If they ran the thing down Main Street they might actually have something. Right now in this economy though IMO this will be short lived..

Does approved mean that we are at least being compensated to offset the damage to the turf, or actually creating income above the extra damage recovery costs?

I think since its on a trail basis. We wont know until the end of summer what the profit loss ratio is.. I believe they are supposed to move their setup around so to minimize the wear and tear to the turf as well.

We took our Daughter this weekend and she rode the little train had so much fun. I spoke with the driver and he said that they change there pattern and foot print so they dont damage the turf. I didn't see any damage. I do agree that once the trail opens up from Johnson to Westside that would be a great place for the train to run. We have such great parks and I am so glad the city is connecting our parks. The Hike and Bike trail system is going to be great!
