Why are our kids having to take the new STARS Test right here before they take the TAKS Test and especially since it is not suppose to be implemented until next year:confused:? Are they not stressed enough or something:mad:?

It would have been nice for the parents to know before hand. Our son was stressed about it last night and I said, "oh no son, the TAKS isn't until after Easter"! Nice to be walking around with egg all over my face:banghead:.

Poor babies, they might have to think, rather than being specifically coached for the test alone. Heaven forbid they might have to actually show they've learned something from the teachers we pay to educate them!! Good grief! I guess we're only supposed to pay our teachers to teach to the test only, phooey on the three R's!

In regards to your first part of your reply it is truly hard for people to comprehend the amount of pressure that is put on these kids AND the teachers (that get that measly pay for what the government calls teaching) if they don't have a child in the Public Schools NOW!

That I could not agree with you more on! Should kids be tested YES, most definitely. Should the test totally dominate our kids education NO but it is the way things stand now! STARS will be twice as hard and have even more bearing on the kids and the teachers futures. I don't think the state should have used our kids as Guinea Pigs less then 2wks away from the present state mandated test that counts NOW.
Budgets cut to education + raising the bar on state mandated testing= Public Education FAILURE! Think we rank amongst one of the last now just hide and watch folks...we will be ranked last and it won't be because our kids are not smart enough or "haven't had to think"!!!
