I have no idea how to get a pic here so it is in an album on my profile of what I found when I cut open my baked potato tonight:eek:. It is solid, rubbery and has a pointy tail:confused:...
Bought an 8lbs bag of jumbo sized at Walmart this weekend. Called the store and they are going to refund my $ and fill out an incident report for Headquarters for a possible recall.

This day and time they probably are, Caretaker, hahaha! Don't think I will be able to look at another tater much less eat one for quite some time!
Our Lil Man thinks it belongs to the fish family so apparently the two of you are thinking a long the same lines, hahaha!

Can't tell from the picture, a little blurry, but is it segmented at all? If so, it looks a lot like a Phoenix worm. If it is completely smooth, it resembles a slug, but no idea how a slug would get in a potato.

Caretaker, you're a practical man!

I looked at pictures of both the Phoenix worm and the slug. It had a fatter tail (that was molded into the body) then the Phoenix worm and didn't have the antennas like the slugs do:confused:
I am off to Walmart and have decided if they do not want to keep it that I may pass it on to our son's Science Class;)

Looks like a slug to me. Don't think some of the normal characteristics can be seen because it was cooked. Read that slugs are one of the worst pests for potatoe growers.

The Manager was very sweet and gracious about it but had no clue as to what it was. Kept offering me grocery items for free, haha. I told him all I wanted to know is what it was and how it found it's way into my potato. He said it was a born and bred critter from Idaho...have I mentioned how grateful I am to be a Born and Bred Texan???

I am going to stay true to HEB from now on for grocery items, no matter how inconvenient it may be. At least they are in state owned and operated!!!

Seriously, I suspect it's some kind of potato worm. If you'll Google "Potato Worm" and click on "Images" at the top, left-hand side of the search list you might be able to identify the critter. Just remember that cooking it could make it look different than a live worm.

Never found a worm in a potato, but I did find half a worm in a peach once. Kinda killed my appetite for peaches.

Gumby was my sister's favorite show....

Probably was but after it was cooked it did not even resemble a worm. Course I don't make cooking worms a habit so I have no clue, hahaha.
