Chip, I moved this out of "Happy Birthday" because it deserves more readership.
It sounds exciting.
Tell us more !
What does it mean for Texas?

"Eagle Ford Shale is the biggest boom around right now. A combination of oil and gas. Every major around is down there in the play. China even bought in with Chesapeake, BP is down there on some of our stuff, and a Talisman(Canada) and Statoil(Norway I think) joint venture, have some of our stuff. If the morons in DC would go with Natural Gas for the alternative, we might get somewhere. America has a boatload of it all over. Leave the corn for eating and feeding livestock, and forget electric until you get more NG powered electricity generatioon. Solar is a joke."

Well, it means many jobs for the area, if you don't mind going down south. The estimated reserves are off the chart, and this oil and gas is more accessible than most shale formations. Larger land holdings and smaller municipalities make costs drop to produce. If O would push Natural Gas as the alternative energy instead of using food, Texas would be in good shape. In the mean time, the pathetic energy policy was driven up the price of oil, so Texas wins again.

Now it ain't all rosey down near the border. 4 deaths of oilfield workers at the hands of "exchange Students" and a shootout 2 weeks ago between our north neighbors ranch foreman and smugglers makes for an extra exciting boom. See www.Protectyourtexasborder.com for details.

There are hiring signs from San Antonio south to Laredo on IH 35 and from San Antonio south to Corpus along IH 37.

A friend from my hometown in South Texas said it is unbelievable the amount of jobs and local revenue that is being brought in. It is SO good to hear that area of the state is coming back to life! Said jobs are abundant but living accommodations are very sparse. Safety is always a concern like you said...
Good luck, Chip!

This is all very interesting, thanks for the additional info.

What about refineries for this stuff, anyone building new ones in Texas?

Chip your comprehensive site on Border issues makes me fighting mad ! Those maps on trafficking and the dangers to fellow Texans are an outrage.

And the DC idiots, not to mention the Austin idiots, are standing by letting it all happen.
They need to shut the border down, boycott Mexico , cancel all visas, both ways, stop all imports, etc. until Mexico cleans up it's act!

Carrizo Springs, wasn't it? Lots of labor coming from there, right now. That Briscoe country area south of there has produced some of the better oil/gas wells.

Yes and when we left there some 30+ years ago it was on it's way of becoming nothing more then a ghost town because the oil boom had gone bust. They have seen some very tough and trying times through the years since then.
I don't travel down that way much anymore since the parents have passed on...I need to though one of these days! They say this boom puts the past ones to shame...
Yes, the Briscoe name was very big from Uvalde to Carrizo all the way down south. There is another big name from those parts that is on the tip of my tongue...ugh, I will have to get back to you when I remember it!

Now Chip you know you can send it ICO the WH. You know she'll get it cause you know where her nose is stuck. She has even abandoned her own state.

Her last comment that the border was safer than ever is a joke if not a blatant lie.
I lived, and travelled to and from the border, in Monterey for 10 years alone. I never had a single problem!
I Whitewing hunted in San Fernando. I could go on and on. Now I would be fearful of travelling anywhere in So.Texas.

The Chittums have done well over the years. The old man passed a few years ago, but the production continues.

I sold and serviced boats all over Mexico in the 80's. Had a large time travelling through the country. I miss my favorite clubs and eateries in Nuevo Laredo. Visited with some pipeliners the other day. They were working down on the river a few weeks ago and were fired upon. They returned fire. No injuries, but a basic full scale war.
