We are so lucky to have the Uptown Marble Theatre and the talent that they bring to Marble Falls. Please continue to support this venue! If you haven't been, try it. The choices are varied and you will find something you like.

Agree that it is a great venue. Saw John Kelso there last night and enjoyed it very much.

I've never been in the Theatre but I've always wanted to. I was walking downtown once and saw a big crowd going in to see Michael Murphy and I wished I had known about it beforehand.

We have enjoyed several events at the Uptown. Sometimes we order tickets in advance to save a couple of dollars and sometimes we just wander down there to see if there are any available seats - often there are.

They have a webpage and run ads in the local newspaper.

Branson on the Colorado? Well, not quite, but there is a fine argument that Marble Falls could be, on a reasonable scale, with its lake, golf courses, room to grow and lively music and theatre. Ever wonder what a truly, well-conceived, multi-sizable FIRST CLASS Performing Arts Center might attract in the way of economic opportunities, jobs, tourist and entertainment dollars?
Whether you are a culturista or an adventurista, you can get both at the Uptown Marble. A really nice venue repurposed in an historic movie house with restaurants and wine bars close by, an eclectic and changing line-up of talent and shows and a growing reputation in the Texas Hill Country.
All the performance venues in Marble Falls deserve support -- from the Hill Country Community Theatre (http://www.hcct.org (http://www.hcct.orgI)) to the live music at the Uptown (http://www.uptownmarble.com/)and River City Grill (http://www.rivercitygrilletx.com/). . . well, for a small town, lots of choices. And it beats driving 50+ miles to Austin and trying to find reasonable parking . . . and then getting safely home at a reasonable hour.
I suspect in this tougher economy, some of our city leaders are less focused on the entertainment and leisure businesses in the MF-HSB-CS-Burnet corridor. And that's understandable as municipal revenues have dipped.
Yet, even the unincorporated Spicewood on the eastern end of Burnet County has six or seven sold-out concerts a year, thanks to the Spicewood Arts Society. (The Gimbles last night! Packed the Spicewood Vineyards Events Center despite the rain and cold!) http://www.spicewoodarts.org/
Is it worth a Regional Long-Look Task Force study? Could a portion of the cities' various hotel-motel tax be a starting point for funding that first-step?
I frankly believe their are residents who would support a multi-purpse arts center overlooking the city and lake/river -- a venue that, with proper management -- that might become that alternate entertainment mecca of music-comedy-drama-dance-vocal-etc. for both visiting entertainment celebs and groups and local artists and arts organizations. And by support, I mean behests, bequests, grants, foundation funds, outright gifts.
Surely something to think about...plan for...and, perhaps, make a reality. . . one day.

Sounds good to me!
