Tried this with 3 friends over the weekend and overall I would def. recommend it. But it is heavy, big food for the most part. To start we asked to taste the cream gravy b'cause some of the group wanted to order chicken fried steak and gravy MUST be good for this dish to work. The gravy was to DIE for! We were dipping our chips in it! Yum.

My dish was the lightest - a chicken stuffed poblano pepper with a spicy cilantro cream sauce. The chicken was tender white meat, the sauce was wonderful and the poblano was roasted not fried. Served with some rice and beans it made a great lunch. One of my friends got the chicken fried steak and the other the chicken fried chicken and finally the fourth got the chicken Nortenos tacos I believe. The chicken fried meats were HUGE with good flavor. The mashed potatoes and side of veggies were only okay. The tacos were very cheesy - and my friend only ate one. I wish they would have had a fish taco option that wasn't catfish. That's one of the few fish none of us wanted and it was their only option.

Prices were in the $8.99 - $10.99 range for the entrees we had.

We didn't have room to try dessert but they sounded good.

I have to agree that the Maxican is a great place to eat. They will even make you something that is not on the menu if you are on a special diet.

Who doesn't love a backrub.

I agree. So, so good and the backrubs are to die for. lol The food is wonderful! I have tried just about everything and it is all great! Everybody there is soooooo nice! This is the place to go for all kinds of food, not just mexican. But the hot sauce and chips are sooo good. I would eat there everyday if I could. Great place!

Google 'The Maxican' in Burnet TX. Travelling north on 281 it is on the right shortly before you get to Burnet. They are in a building that used to house a Mexican restaurant.
