I passed through Burnet yesterday and noticed a Giovanni's (I think that's the name of it anyway) Italian Restaurant where The Maxican used to be on 281. Has anybody tried it? I plan to visit real soon but just wondered if anyone out there could give us a review.

We called ahead and picked up a pizza there once. The service was about "par" for this area. (Teens and kids that could care less you are there). The pizza was just so-so. Haven't gone back. Bella-Sera is much better - can't wait for them to re-open!

Too expensive for my blood and food OK. Who can or wants to spend $10.00 for lunch and only alittle portion of food? Not me!

I'd spend $10 if the food was excellent but if it's just so-so, forget it. Haven't tried Bela-Sera in years so I'll try it again when it reopens. I usually go to Francesco's for Italian.

Giovanni's is owned by the brother of Francesca's owner. They have a restaurant in Lampasas. Have to agree, not as good as Francesca's and too expensive for lunch.

I thought it to be pretty good. They make their pasta fresh and the spaghetti with meat sauce was excellent.

Tried it today and found out that the owner is the brother of the owner of Francesco's in MF. So the food is almost exactly the same. I liked the pizza better at Giovanni's, however.

Another nearby Italian restaurant is On the Rocks - in Cottonwood Shores. The lake view is very nice from inside the dining room and from the outside patio. I've eaten there twice, once right after they opened (for dinner) and again a few weekends ago (for lunch). Both times the food was good- we ordered italian food both times. The menu also consists of burgers, salads, and sandwiches. They have a short wine list and margaritas (made with wine). There is something for every budget. They have outside heaters on the patio and a fire pit and chairs under a big oak tree. The owners are very "hands-on" and they really seem to be trying to provide quality food and great customer service.

Bela Sera has the best pizzas around in my opinion. I'm so glad it has reopened. The remodel is very pretty.

I agree all the above regarding Giovanni's in Burnet. It was "less than memorable" for lunch.
The little Italian place in Cottonwood Shores was a nice surprise though. (Pizza Mia, I think). Very good food and value. They have a portebella appetizer that is terrific. Bella Serra, Francescos, Russo's....all good!

Was pricy to eat, food was "so so", service was bad.
Left a $4 tip only for the waitress to make the 4 into a 9.
Called about it to report only to talk to a rude manager or owner who was working at another location in Cove or somewhere out that way arguing with me and said he would fix it with much protest. It still never got fixed. Needless to say, I wont ever be back.
