Does anyone know how old a child has to be to join the 4H Club? What animal is best for beginners?

You have to be 9 yrs old or 8 and in the 3rd grade. You can call the Extention office and Janet will be able to help you find a 4-H club that will suit your child. I know we have around 9 of them in Burnet co. As far as the easiest animal to raise? I think for beginners, rabbits are great! You only have them for about a month and you have to buy one 50 lb sack of feed. Animal projects can get pretty expensive. My daughter shows breeding (Boer) goats. If you are interested in animal projects, call the extention office. They can help.
