Celebrating the Constitution
To commemorate the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution of the United States, Congress has designated September 17th of each year as CONSTITUTION DAY and September 17*23 of each year as CONSTITUTION WEEK.

In 2004, Public Law 108-447, Section 111 was passed requiring the following:

'Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educa*tional program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.

"...each Federal agency or department shall provide educational and training materials con*cerning the United States Constitution to each employee ... on September 17 of each year. "

In keeping with these congressional mandates, recent presidents have solicited help from federal and local government leaders as well as civic and religious leaders to hold events to commemorate the occasion.

We encourage all citizens to use their influence to organize and support programs that honor the Constitution. Resources for holding such a celebration may be found at nccs.net.

This Friday is "Constitution Day", and next week is "Constitution Week". We should all fly our FLAG to show our love for America and the Constitution of the United States.

I find it interesting how that Law was passed in 2004 but G W B said it was just a GD piece of paper. It is also interesting that the Const was made on paper made of HEMP yet hemp is now illegal.

I do agree that we should all Fly our Flags. My flag though will be the TEXAS Flag (current or the bonnie blue) and i will fly it to show my Love of our Beloved Republic of Texas and the original Texas consititution.

There is NO confirming evidence that G.W.B. ever uttered that remark. DOUG THOMPSON is the only person in the media that has ever stated it happened.

Not all hemp is illegal--certain by-products are, such as marijuana.

marijuana is not a By product. It is a plant all by itself. Its Related to Hemp but it does not have the Same effects as maryjane. Put the two plants side by side and you cant tell the difference.

I fly both the US and Texas flags except when I fly the Texas and Longhorn flags:rockon:.

Now I do wish I had two flag poles so I could fly them side by side.

(For the uninformed, the Texas flag is the only flag in the 50 that can fly side by side with the US flag.)

For those that do not know the US Flag Code, the statement above is NOT true. All states have the option to fly their flag side by side with the US flag.

I read that US code and it doesnt say all the states can, but merely says there is no provision against it.And that there is no way to enforce (by law) How Flags are to be flown or which ones are to be flown.. How many States actually fly their state Flags at the same level?.. You see it alot here in Texas and I,m **** glad they do.
