I can't think of anything worse than moving and leaving your pets behind! A family in my neighborhood did just that a week ago. What a bunch of low-lifes! People like that should not be allowed to breed on this planet.

They left two cats, one of which only has one eye. I hate to take them to a shelter as I know they'd probably be euthanized before I even got out of the building.

Make that 3 cats left behind. Don't know where this one had been hiding, but I guess hunger finally got to him...

I can honestly say after reading the Tribune this morning (3yr. old child found wandering the streets in G.S.) that nothing surprises me anymore!!!

I agree, Taxlave. That's why we need chlorine in the gene pool. Unfortunately, there aren't any no-kill shelters in the area that accept cats (HLSPCA used to, but don't any longer). If you and your neighbors could band together and provide food and water, they'll probably do OK on their own. There's a free spade/neuter event planned in MF on 9/4. I'd suggest taking them to make sure you don't get overrun with feral kittens.

I think they both are spayed/neutered. Actually, I don't know what gender they are; don't know too much about kitties at all, but they've been living at this house for over a year, I think, and I've never seen any sign of either having a litter or of kittens. There is at least one other person feeding besides me, but I think we'll need to coax them away from the house as it is up for sale and the owner doesn't want them around. They are still trying to clean up the mess left by lusers that were renting the place. There is a no-kill shelter in Leander that one neighbor offered to take the cats to, but they have a waiting list. Maybe we'll be able to get them placed there, at least, before too long.

I'd like to nominate the lusers for the Darwin award this year...with all that entails...

Who is holding this free spay/neuter clinic September 4th and where? I need more info. I have some animals that need to get fixed.

For anyone who thinks shelter dogs aren't great pets, look at these. What a great video.

Rescued shelter dogs!
