Are Americans getting angrier and losing our ability to be civil to one another?

Perhaps "Angry" isn't the the best word to use...perhaps "frustrated" is better...or "scared of losing our rights" might be more appropriate.
I cannot imagine this country ever being more divided than it is at this time. It seems that all reason has been tossed out the window; that there's more concern with making changes than with making sure we're making the right changes and for the right reasons.

Americans had better get mad!!!!!! It is obvious that the lunatics are running the insane asylum. Obama is like Jimmy Carter on steroids! Heaven help up and our grandkids, great grandkids, etc.

And I'm not sure why we are divided. This is NOT a GOP vs. LIB thing. Everyone should be fed up with Congress. It's time for term limits, and a good house cleaning.

I think most people are fed up with an immoral government. There is no trust of the people
running this country and justifiably so. They engage in embezzlement, adultry, association with
mafia type groups and then tell the working people of this country what we need to do to be a
better nation. The middle class, blue collar worker has carried this country and is rapidly losing their
income, homes, freedoms and it is time to shake up our government and clean house. Our government has become no better than most of the third world countries they disdain.
I am sad to see this great nation as it is today. What happened to the country I grew up in?

Daily ScriptureFor I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Today's Scripture says it all for me.
I need only add; and our love for America...
We need to turn anger to action, stand together, maintain our civility, look for the positive in our lives and in this great country and stop allowing special interest groups to run our lives and our country. I would like to start by putting "politically correct" in the trash and taking back "majority rules":soapbox:

...and furthermore
One, just one hateful, meanspirited woman took prayer out of our schools, in Austin, during the time my children were in school in Austin !
My peers and I said, it could never happen in America. We did nothing.
This Country and our Constitution is founded on christian values and I believe there are more christians than non-christians. If one person could take it out, why can't we together put it back?

I wish more people would put prayer back in the home, if you get it back in the home the rest will follow.
How many people today have even read the Bible? How many can actually tell you what Jesus taught, not many I bet. Most of those who go to church can sometimes tell you what their minister said (every now and then, when they're paying attention and not worried about beating the crowd to Sunday brunch), but how many can actually tell you what Jesus said?

Webmaster: It seems the answer is an obvious "yes" and thereby losing our ability to examine the issues rationally.

This was written by David Harsanyi.
If you've been paying attention lately, you may be under the impression that the United States was spiraling into mass incivility.
The evidence keeps mounting: Congressman Joe Wilson yelling. Serena Williams yelling. Kanye West . . . whatever. All of these uncouth characters have been strung together by critics to establish, indisputably, that there is a societal explosion of boorish and coarse behavior.
On the political front, columnist Kathleen Parker calls this "a political era of uninhibited belligerence." House speaker Nancy Pelosi, lamenting an imaginary climate of violence, wishes "we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made."
Such a preposterous statement should be actionable. Pelosi, who only recently compared her political opponents to Nazis, isn't exactly a paragon of civil discourse. American politics has always been unsightly. Most of the time, in fact, far worse than today.
Have we transformed into so brittle a citizenry that we are unable to handle a raucous debate over the future of the country? If things were quiet, subdued and "civil" in America today, as Pelosi surely wishes, it would only be proof that democracy wasn't working.
It's no accident, either, that those in power are generally the ones choking up about the lack of decorum. The truth is, we could use far less bogus civility in Washington.
Some of us, for instance, would prefer the superb system of debating used by the British Parliament. Watching those foppish MPs holler "poppycock, sir!" at each other during speeches is a pure pleasure. The British trade courteousness for a more productive, more honest and, most important, more entertaining debate. (The occasional Taiwanese-style free-for-all parliamentary slap-riot wouldn't hurt C-Span's ratings either.)
Instead, here at home, stilted House rules dictate that a congressperson may not refer to the government as "something hated, something oppressive." Its members shall not call any unnamed officials "our half-baked nitwits handling foreign affairs" no matter how true the statement may be. And they never, ever can describe the president as a "liar," a "hypocrite" or claim he is "intellectually dishonest."
It's a miracle anything is discussed, actually.
Obviously, congressman Wilson broke the rules when he rudely blurted out, "You lie!" The vulnerable souls inhabiting Congress — people who spend half their lives and millions of dollars smearing political opponents as child-hating, warmongering, brown-shirted socialists — were profoundly offended by this act of rudeness. For many, it was another sign of the intensifying coarseness in American society.
Now, tennis (unlike politics) is, without question, one of the most civilized sports in the world. If there was any chance that Williams was going to shove a EXPLETIVE ball down the EXPLETIVE throat of a line judge, it might even be a sport worth watching. After that, despite the overwrought finger-wagging of critics, the incident tells us nothing about society at large — other than that athletes can be competitive and lose their tempers.
Neither does a hammered celebrity rapper making an idiot out of himself on the MTV (the exemplar of proper etiquette, no?) Video Awards. Yes, I too yearn for the bygone era of hip-hop chivalry, but those days, sadly, have passed.
Where does that leave us? Exactly where we were 10 years ago — or 20. I've been around this country a bit and most of the people I've encountered have been extraordinarily civil — even if they occasionally drink too much or embarrass themselves or curse at each other while playing pick-up basketball.
This new focus on civility is meant to cloud another issue. Let's not confuse personal civility with political civility. A "civil" citizenry can mean a pliable citizenry, waiting — sometimes forever — to speak their minds.
We have no duty to say "please" and "thank you" to elected officials. Not yet.

I do however, believe I should hear please, thank you and I am sorry, from our elected officials whose very exisistence lies in our hands.

I sincerely think people are getting angrier and alot less patient. For some reason, people are always in a hurry for no reason. The average person also has no respect for anyone else. Just look how people drive around you and how they act in stores while shopping. Why is everyone so impatient?
Have you heard of the stories of complete strangers discipling children that don't belong to them. This is becoming more prominent. People just have no respect for others.

Angry, frustrated, confused is what I would call it! Most of the people I talk to about where our nation is going seem to use these adjectives! Republican or Democrat, neither matters now.... what we need is reform and term limits from our representatives!
I guess the thing that makes me so angry is the uproar over "torture!" Alot of the mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers all just went to work on 9-11 and had to make the decision whether to burn to death or jump to their deaths. Others had no choice at all and suffered in ways we will never understand. Now that's torture! I would also like to ask our President if his family were in danger from a terrorist attack and they had an informant in custody that might, just might know information to prevent the attack would he "waterboard" them? If he says no.... he's lying! Of course he would, and that is what he doesn't understand. Any victim of an attack is a family member to someone! Wake-Up Americans!
I guess America changed when the 50's ended! Sex, drugs and Rock n Roll !! Innocence and love of country died around that time!

And had we been so at the time of the birth of this nation, we would all still be British subjects!

Perhaps "P*S#ED" is the right word. With every day that passes this POTUS intentionally does just the opposite of what this country stands for. Todays UN speech was one that no previous POTUS all the way back to Washington would have even considered saying what BO did to the world. If you did not here it you must view it on the net. If that was not enough to enrage you..... He broke another law of our Constitution today, a very serious one. The right to free speech. He ordered Humana Corp to not speak against his Hellcare bill. Yes he did... he placed a gag order on the company. Any private company is covered under the 1st Ammendmant.
.
Well, Uncle Ted sez.... It is getting close for the citizens to insert our right afforded to us under the 2nd ammendmant before it's to late. I do not know what they teach in the MFISD these days, but when I attended this is how I remember it.........
The right for citizens to keep and bear arms is the only part of the constitution that protects the liberties of a republic, since it mandates a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of slimebags like we now have trying to "Fundamentally Change The Country". This will enable the citizens of America to resist and triumph over anyone that trys to usurp the Republic. Should the contingency ever arise when it would be necessary for the citizens to make use of the arms in their hands to protect constitutional liberty, and the Republic from tyranny, it without a doubt would be justified.

Well said Uncle Ted, and welcome to the circus. I concur that the words of our Founding Fathers may soon ring true. I don't understand how time and time again they can speak in contradiction of the Constitution that they swore an oath to defend.

Good Morning.
.
Okay class lets all stand and cross your hammer and sickel. I pledge alliegence to the POTUS for one nation under satan and justice for none and power to the Government. Amen:hail: .
.
Remain standing as we sing. Ready 12mmm mmm mmm BHO BHO BHO mmm mmm mmm BHO BHO BHO mmm mmm mmm BHO BHO BHO mmmm mmm mmm :laughing:funny but kinda disturbing!
Where are the church and state enforcers? I would like to see the s#it storm if a teacher was on video teaching their class Amazing Grace. But they remain silent as the night. It's okay to praise the POTUS in our public schools but don't ya dare praise the Lord Jesus Christ.
And people wonder why we get madder every day. Maybe it is time for us to shoot back.
************************"SHOOT EM DOWN"**********************
****************************************** ***************
Now, these people prey on us every day, some are bad, some badder. They think we're all fools, so they make their own rules, it only gets us madder. Well, they think they're hot, well, I say they're not, so if they wanna play lets make em pay. Shoot Back! shoot em down, shoot em down to the ground!
No need for any offended rabbid leftist to notify the MIB. Use rubber bullets please or a nerf gun. Or just shoot em down at the ballot box.
Have a nice day!:) Uncle Ted has got to go do something productive. And get away from the pc and tv for awhile before I pull my hair out. While I am away let's see who can come up with band that did this song I just used? (w/o) using google.
