This is just to much for me to take. WHO is responsible for this disaster? This is right on the heals of the City making a colossal blunder regarding the Hospital and a dedicated sewer and water line out to nowhere at GREAT expense to us taxpayers. Now ad the Manzano mile (at GREAT expense) into the mix and it makes you wonder who is running this town of ours? In any private business the people responsible would be fired on the spot. The city gets a pass....
rant off, carry on.

"The idiots are running the insane asylum." Perhaps another 32% tax increase. . . . .

Economic Development Corporation controls our hotel/motel tax income and has been where the council members out of term limits go. We now have more citizen members of the EDC but these are appointed, not sure by whom??? Originally this was to be an educational center for trades, GREAT IDEA!!, and staffed by MFISD,,,THAN RON Motors showed up for the payoff.

Not sure either of these uses is within the mandate allowed which says funds are to be used for improving tourism or so I was told.....

One side note, have you seen the SCOTT & WHITE WATER TOWER at 281/71
If there is no site, why a tower? Is it a tower they paid for?? Or is it ours with their name on it??

I've tried not to get into this one, but I can't resist anymore. The egregious greed and stupidity is outrageous!! This dude Sam Martin, for instance. From what I've seen - NOTHING he's touched around here has turned to anything but crap. He's come up with nothing but excuses - economy, banks, etc., etc., etc. How many failed ventures has he had his hands in? Doesn't anybody do homework or background checks? Do the "powers that be" only take someone's word they're going to bring gold into the area and jump on the bandwagon at face value? Is this guy Ronn related to Martin? In the "big city" (and I'm serious, it ain't Marble Falls, it's a REAL big city) I'm accustomed to, things like this would NEVER happen over and over and over like this. How did we taxpayers get duped into paying for all this crap like this? Good grief, people. Can't you smell the coffee YET? You need to check into the real reasons behind the hospital deal anyway. After all, S&W already pulled out of Horseshoe Bay because they couldn't make any money with a clinic. All these deals stink to high heaven - and it's beginning to smell like another tax hike!!:banghead:

I agree with you, Carvet. There is something very "hinky" about all the bad deals and that one common thread, Sam Martin. It was my understanding more than 5 years ago that Martin had donated the property for the Hospital to be built. The "Future Home Of..." sign went up immedaitely - even before the S&W agreement was established. Does anybody else recall that the S&W agreement with Llano Memorial wasn't mentioned in public until Marble Falls struck out to find a partner to launch another hospital project? And, it was several years later before that contract was signed.

I suspect that Llano Memorial got scared that Marble Falls would soon be home to a new rival hospital and put the words out that all these deals had been made, when, in reality, they were only unsigned proposals. Martin owned all that Skywater property, and speculated on big increases in those land values.

Just an FYI, I don't know if he still is but at one time Sam Martin use to be a member of this forum. Just thought I would mention that.

I was just informed by nosefornews in a private post that my post has been deleted because of my personal comments about Mr. Martin. I based my comments on what I read in a newspaper about Mr. Martin, which is public record. I do not know the man, nor did I have any dealings with him. I also did not know nosefornews COULD delete my post, I thought that privilege belonged to the webmaster. I don't care if Sam Martin is a member of this forum or not, wrong is wrong. I've seen comments from him on this, so I'm not concerned about that. Martin was involved with the deal that went south where the new Baptist church is, the deal out toward Smithwick. What else do we need to look at? That was in the paper! I have no personal agenda! There are several problems with the hospital and I have no intention on listing - the rest of you can do your homework on that debacle!! Somebody should!!!!!

Let's get this straight. You not only attacked Sam Martin, you used profanity in your post. Moderators can delete posts that violate forum rules. And so I did, I also ask Peaches to edit her post to remove Mr. Martin's name, however since she did not use profanity I did not delete her post.

OK - people have already proven that reopening this thread was unwise.
