I received this from a friend this morning,
Awhile back I was reading the forum in the Highland Lakes daily update. Someone that uses 'Chief USA' wrote in looking for a rose called Harrison's Yellow Rose or Yellow Rose of Texas.
Several years ago a friend gave me a starting of a rose she called Yellow Rose of Texas. I almost lost it when we moved but have found a straggly piece underneath the blackberry bushes.
Do you know this person? It seems he is involved with veteran events down your way. I don't like the idea of writing someone I don't know a thing about but would be willing to share a cutting of this rose.
I'm not positive this is the same one he is looking for. It has more thorns than any rose I've ever seen but when researching it I can't see the stems and nothing is mentioned about the thorns.
We had the yard looking just beautiful then was hit with a hail storm that destroyed it in a few minutes..............it hailed 45 minutes without stopping! Some people are having bad grasshopper problems and that is worse than hail so guess I'm lucky not to have grasshoppers yet.
Hope you and yours are well.
Love,
