I for one would like to see a renewed and beefed-up SW Conference.
Mack says the Horns can go anywhere .
(I still think "rock on" looks like Hookem Horns)
Where do you think they should go?

Will tu be able to get enough of their football players out of jail to field a team next year?

Unfortunately UT is not the only University that has players getting into trouble!
Tonigking, A&M was suppose to have a meeting today about possibly joining the Pac 10. Have you heard what came out of that? IMHO, I don't think there will be enough competition for UT if they go to the Pac 10. Also for me if that means no more UT & A& M football games that would just seem weird and unamerican, hahaha.

I'd like to see the Big 12 stay as it is, but that is not happening obviously. You certainly cant blame Colorado for bolting to the Pac 10. They really were the odd school out in the Big 12 because of location, time zone, recruiting base, etc. They belong in the Pac 10.
As far as UT? I think they're out of here too. Probably the Pac 16 at this point, but maybe the big 10 if the conference can get the guarantees up. It would be a little weird though playing Wisconson, Northwestern and Illinois.
Either change is a huge pay raise for the University. As far as gaining television revenue, they could lose Stillwater, Ok., Waco, Tx., Lubbock Tx, Manhattan KS, and Ames, Iowa. They gain San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix. I say U of Oklahoma goes with them to the Pac 10.
When in doubt about what was, what is or what will be........just follow the money trail!

Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State will be the odd men out. Baylor should never had been included into the Big 12 but for arm twisting by Ann Richards. Even a bad day in Stillwater is better than the best day in Waco. I will miss the luxury of going to a Baylor football game, arriving 5 minutes before kickoff, pulling into a preferred parking spot, getting a Dr. Pepper and a hot dog, and making it to my seat with time to spare before the kickoff. I remember one game where someone actually had the audacity to sit on the same row as me. What gall!!! OU, OSU, TT, A&M, and TU will join with Arizona and Arizona State in a conference that will have 2 divisions. I would rather spend a football Saturday in Tucson rather than freeze my butt off in Lincoln. Since the "cornshuckers" can no longer dominate as a power program, they're folding their tent and taking their corney hats to the Big 10 where they will be lucky to go 6 & 5. Thank you Dr. Tom for nothing.
Maybe a&m should go to conference usa or the mountain west were they might have a chance . They have rode ut's coattails long enough. Hook em

Not to be overlooked is that "other sport" .... basketball. Where will Kansas end up, in the Mountain West? Can you imagine Kansas playing home and home games with Wyoming?
In any event, Dan Beebe has taken a Cadillac and made it into a rusted out Rambler.

Yep. That is the way I see it. A powerhouse of a new Conference. The PAC 16. Two divisions with a barn burner of a title game.
The big 12 is history, unless they can scramble and add Houston, Stephen F. Austin, and start looking at larger Div II schools like Texas State and UTEP.
Nebraska and Missouri go to the Big 10 where they are a good fit. Iowa State is a great program academically and athletically. They deserve a invite into a top conference. Kansas can play roundball anywhere, but they will probably join K State in the Big 10 if the conference expands to 16 schools.

Actually, Bill Byrnes told Dodd and tu that they could be together or not, it did not matter. I would like TAMU to go to the SEC. Better recruiting base.
Perry will probably step in and insure that TAMU and tu stay together.

I am a traditionalist and do not like the changes.
I definitely do not want to see the Thanksgiving weekend go away nor do I want to see Texas -OU game go away. (That's the game where you get to see great Texas players on both sides.)
I also miss the Texas-A&M game not being on Thursday.
For those of you who wish to criticise members of any team; please don't forget there are thousands of fine young men and coaches playing the sport and who work their tails off to bring Us good football.

We are not criticising the the coaches and players, we are having fun with the teams and thats part of what makes college football so much fun. Its been going on since college sports began, political correctness has no place when it comes to football rivalrys. lol

This just in. Texas and Oklahoma to stay in the Big 12.
The Big 12, thought to be in mortal condition as recently as late Saturday, will remain alive as a 10-team league after Texas signed off on the new arrangement late Monday afternoon, UT officials have told the American-Statesman.
A source from a Big 12 school other than Texas also confirmed that UT has given its blessing to the deal that will keep the Big 12 intact after overtures from the Pacific 10 Conference to UT and five other Big 12 schools.
“The Pac-10 people are at home,” said the highly placed source. “They know it’s over.”
University president William Powers, men’s athletic director DeLoss Dodds and women’s AD Chris Plonsky will participate in a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bellmont Hall. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe will address the media Tuesday in a teleconference.
Tuesday’s scheduled UT regents meeting has been called off.

Thanks for the confirmation. I had only been reading predictions and speculation articles on it today. From what one of the articles said the enticement was being given their own network. Wonder if that means they will no longer be on the major networks?

The big dog, as we all know, was Texas. They'll get their own TV and make a mountain of money. They will become, in some ways already are, the number one college sports brand in the country.

Who does the Big 12 now go after? I doubt if it would be U of H, Rice, TCU or SMU, but doesn't it seem like they need to add somebody?

I've heard that Arkansas has expressed an interest and that would be great, is there any realistic chance for ND? They seem to be caught up in yesteryear.....
