I am very distressed that KBAY has once again hung the Hill Country Morning Show out to dry -- by pulling the plug on Jay and Ben in the morning.
This was my wake up radio station -- national news, local news and weather, Ben's forthcoming wedding, Jay's daughter...
I'm switching back to KMFA. And KBAY, I will NEVER advertise with you again.

I received the same message this morning from them...I feel the same way. They will be losing a lot of listeners I am sure! What number is the KMFA station on?

KMFA is 89.5, FM -- it's listener-supported classical music, so it may not be your cup of tea. My biggest problem is that it's so soothing, I tend to fall back asleep, whereas I could always count on Jay to wake me up.

Oh bummer, no I definitely need something that will be a pick me up! Hahaha. Wonder if there is any chance they will bring them back? Guess we can always hope!
They will be doing a show via the internet that they said is free but it's just not the same!

Jay Henderson and I are developing the new web based program. It is tentatively entitled 'This is the Hill Country' and will be available as a podcast or directly from a website we are developing. The 60 minute program will be broken into segments and will cover the following areas 1 - New (Local) music, 2 - Community Events / News, 3 - Ranching - Ag - Rodeo - Fishing - News, 4 - News from the Military.
By making it a podcast you will be able to download and listen to it at your convenience and our goal is to have it available daily. We are breaking it into logical geographical segments so that residents of Burnet - Marble Falls - Kingsland - Granite Shoals - Johnson City - Blanco will have a specific program...Residents of Llano - San Saba - Brady will have one, --- Junction - Mason - Menard will have one and Lampassas - Copperas Cove - Killeen and Temple will have one.
While not being the same as a live local morning show, our goal is to make it relevant to the residents and informative for former residents of the area who want to keep up with what's going on.
We will keep everyone up to date on the release and how to subscribe (no charge subscription) and how to download or listen on demand. Jay and I are both sad to see local radio die, but that is the reality. The Dallas owners of the stations don't care about the community and they are interested only in maximizing their profits.
As a side note, the Cowboy Gospel Hour which is now heard on 92.5, 102.5 and 106.9 will not be broadcast after the end of the month of June. The sermons are currently online and are available as a weekly podcast on itunes or at the site texascowboychurch.com
We will be running a banner ad on this site once we get the new program up and running.
Thank you
Hank Wilson

JWebb, when you find that information, please share it with us here.
Pastor Hank, I'm glad y'all are putting something together, but it won't be convenient for me to partake, and it sure won't wake me up for work in the morning. Good luck with your endeavors.

Ladybutton, you're right it won't wake you up in the morning, but the reality is your clock radio will still come on and music will play, that won't change and there are still several entertaining morning shows coming out of Austin.
What we're doing is capturing the news and information of a morning show in an audio magazine format and making it available to a wider audience 'on demand' so you can find out what's going on in the area. That you can listen to on an Iphone, Droid, in vehicles with Microsoft Sync, on a podplayer, on your computer and that you can get when you're away from home. Old time radio no, new media broadcasting yes.
As for writing the owners, here is addressMunbilla Broadcasting
4717 Preston Trail Dr
Mesquite, TX 75150
Don't expect much of a reaction, if they cared what folks here think they never would have dumped country for that pirate radio stuff, moved 106.9 to Temple and then fired everyone in the first place and they would have invested in making the stations more live and local.
I wish the best of luck to those who are going to try and convince Munbilla to bring back local radio, others have been trying for the past 3 years and you have seen the results.

You know, for the first time in recent station history, that I can remember, KBAY played local music. It was years and years of canned crap on that station and they refused to play local stuff. That morning show had local music and local talent appear, it was refreshing. Let's face it Marble Falls and the highland lakes are has some really good musicians, but no one supports them.

I clicked the link peaches provided and joined.
Once I started reading the postings, I found that I may not want that kind of stuff to appear on my facebook page.
I am referring to this:
Hank Wilson posted:
Good morning, today's show is now ready....we talk about drinking, walking and trying to kick your spouse, shooting a bb gun at your buddy's exposed body parts, packsaddle mountain, the Korean War's 60th anniversary, and congrats to some Hill Country Kids who received scholarships from the 4-H...
--------
the part that really turned me off was the "shooting a bb gun at your buddy's exposed body parts,". That's sick IMHO.

Springflower,
If you had listened to the podcast you wouldn't have been offended. What's that saying about not judging a book by its cover?

Springflower....You're talking about the "Stupid Criminal." That is a segment that I have been doing for about 10 years. Please, listen to things before complaining. What I find funny is the exact quote you find "offensive" you re-posted onto another website for more people to see. That is really funny.....IMHO. But thanks for the material.

I explained exactly what happened.
I clicked the link provided.
And I read the posting and read What Hank Wilson had posted.
That's all. If I didn't understand this tread,then I am sorry.
And kbcooljay, could you please give me a link to the website where you read what you say I "re-posted".
I have no idea what you are referring to. All I did was exactly what I wrote here.
Then I came into this site and wrote my complaint in here.
I have not reposted anything anywhere else.
So please,I'd like to see what you saw with my own eyes.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Ok.... Here is the link http://www.thehighlandlakes.com/showpost.php?p=7002&postcount=20
What you saw is called show notes. If you would like to LISTEN to the show, go to www.hillcountrynews.net. (http://www.thehighlandlakes.com/www.hillcountrynews.net)
I don't mean to harp on this on here. But when someone has a problem with something that we do, come to us directly. We have many ways of getting in touch with us on the website including out cell phones. We don't mind if you have a complaint, but complain to someone who can do something about it. We are not hiding behind an anonymous screen name on a forum site. We will be glad to talk to anybody.
Don't worry Springflower.....we do still love you! And you are still more than welcome to listen. (I am not being sarcastic)

I will explain...and then lets please move on with our lives. This website, www.thehighlandlakes.com is ANOTHER website other than www.facebook.com. You copied and pasted what you found offensive onto this website which is the "Other" website for "other" people to see. Probably in a few days if you were to type in "bb's and exposed body parts" into google... Your name will probably come up at the top of the list. (that will not be my doing by the way)
The segment that we talked about that you found offensive was some of the dumb things that people do when they drink. It just so happened that a couple of guys were in the news for getting drunk and shooting each other in the back side (below the waist) with a bb gun just to see if it would hurt. Then they ended up in the ER. Then we went on to talk about thinking before you drink. Which led up to the holiday weekend this weekend and we talked about the dangers of drinking and driving and the conviction rate that they have in our area when people get caught.

BTW.... I was just joking about the google thing. But just out of curiosity I went to google and typed "exposed body parts bb gun" and you came up #4. That is pretty impressive to get something onto google search that fast.
