I was thinking that is what I saw, but didn't want to start anything prematurely.

Some areas had 4 inches and it's supposed to rain more tomorrow. Also heard that La Nina (or El Nino) I'm not sure which one, is heating up in the Pacific and we should begin to see a return to our normal rain patterns soon....Farmers Almanac says late October and November should be unsettled...
Ya gotta love living in Central-South Texas....

I always tell everyone that our weather is best described as a series of droughts separated by floods.
In June 2007 we were all wishing it would stop raining. It did. Unfortunately, it stopped for over 2 years.

I got caught out today without an umbrella. Glad to see the rain and it looks like it will be here for a few days. I just don't like driving in it.

What's an umbrella? My memory is slowly being refreshed as to what this wet stuff falling from the sky is but I still can't remember that umbrella word.

Go to www.cocorahs.org (http://www.cocorahs.org) and check out the Maps section. You can go to Texas and Burnet County and see precise readings for sites throughout the county for data that is entered by individuals with standardized and precise rain gauges. It is interesting to see how much rainfall can vary from one location to the next, even within a few miles.
If you are interested in monitoring rainfal, CoCoRaHS is looking for more volunteers to sign up their locations. The web site explains all. Currently Burnet County has about 23 locations and more are needed.

We've gotten 2.25 inches so far since Friday.
I'm thinking I'll be able to stop collecting dishwater for my plants.

The LCRA has data from all of their rain gauges posted at:
http://www.lcra.org/water/conditions/rainfall.html
However, they only go back 24 hours.

I'll see if I can find an accumulative precipitation map that shows what you may have in your country. We're supposed to stay in this pattern until Saturday, I believe.

A lady my husband use to work with (she quit recently to go full time at a part time job she had been moonlighting at) drowned on her way to work this morning. Very sad...
"Stop, turn around and don't drown". I am a S. Texas girl where there was no water and after being around these parts for all these years I have acquired a deep respect for the water after seeing what it can do when it's on a war path!
Be safe folks...

Where ya from Imam? My roots run deep in South Texas? Some day I'll get back. We ranch near Laredo.

That is tragic, Imam, my heart goes out to the family. Where did it happen? Driving in rain is so dangerous, especially in flash floods.
I saw a truck do a 360 in light rain one day on 1431. So glad there was no oncoming traffic. The truck had only made a left hand turn onto 1431 off of 1980 and I guess he went into the turn too fast and lost control. He regained control quickly.

Kingchip, ever heard of Carrizo Springs? I was born and raised there until my Sophomore of H.S. Use to be an oil field town and was a lot bigger then what it is now. My dad was an Electrician and had his own business for over 50yrs.
Primadonna, "Kara" (she didn't like to be called Karen) drowned out in Deer Springs on 29 west of Burnet. It just makes us sick, she was a wonderful lady!
Love and Peace,

My grandmothers maiden name was Dickens. Her family was one of the founding settlers of Carrizo. We ranch out of Encinal. I ran the Austin Chalk oilfield all around the Carrizo area all the way up to Tyler.
That drowning is so tragic. Godspeed to her family.

I guess it is a small world after all! I went to school with a Dickens. I have a lot of friends whose parents worked at Tesoro (sp?). I don't remember too many of the other oil companies down there. The only reason I remember that one is because of the big explosion and people being killed (friends dad).
Dads company was called Ayers Electric..ever hear of it? He had quite a rep. hahaha!
Yes, it is a sad tragedy and Kara will be missed for sure!

I do remember the name Ayers Electric. I probably ran into them on a location once or twice. I was consulting H2S back then.

Here's the website I use to show the current (and past) rainfall totals in the LCRA drainage area. It contains all of there rain gauges, plus stream flow, and lake levels.
It also allows you to view a two week past history of any gauge. The beauty of it is that it is shown in graphic format, and you only have to mouse over a site to get its location, then click to get details. I usually view the expanded lake area view selected from the default map area pull down. I have one of there gauges on our ranch, so use it frequently to check my rainfall. If you find Kingsland 7WNW, you've found our place near the intersection of CR 307 & SH 71.
