Thank God not more people were hurt! When are kids going to realize they are not invincible? Very scary for kids and driver I am sure!

Gee, that was a helpful post. No clue what you're talking about unless one already knows, in which case there's no need to read this.
What bus wreck?

Are they telling me this guy swerved across at least three traffic lanes and hit the school bus? What is wrong with these people?

Here is a crazy idea, why don't we wait until the details are released before we react?

We are very fortunate to have such capable and responsible people in charge of our kids! Big kudos to Ms. Stamey for the wonderful way she handled the situation!
Spring Break kicks off this afternoon and kids need to remember to slow down!
I do have a question though. Were the parents of the kids on the bus notified by the Bus Barn as to what had happened and that their kids were ok?

A comment left on KXAN says the young man just passed away at Breckenridge. Nothing about who he is, if he is from around here though. My prayers are with the family...

I ran into the uncle of one of the boys this a.m. at a gas station. They told me someone in front of the boys slammed on their brakes. They swerved to the right but then overcorrected and lost control and spun into the oncoming lane, hitting the bus.
From the sounds of the uncle's explanation it was not their fault (unless of course they were tailgating). I don't know what speed they were traveling, but a little Chevy Cavalier is in trouble if it gets hit by a larger vehicle. Whether they were 19 or 90, it's sad that someone lost their life.
There are way too many traffic fatalities in Burnet County, last week that head-on on 281 and now this. I am starting to feel very paranoid while driving in this area.
We sure need a hospital in this area if this is going to be a daily occurrence! Something has to be done!

I agree it is very sad when someone loses their life, especially one so young.
It is not only Spring Break but tourist season is kicking off as well so the wrecks are just going to be picking up. Those of us that live year round here need to exercise extra paitience and slow down. People will be pulling over for the Blue Bonnets, looking for places etc.

Because that would be too much like right

If one takes the time to read the news reports being reported on here there is not much to speculate about!

Both boys in the Cavalier were students at MFHS, so they were from this area.

Thanks whiteorchid, we received the news yesterday. Both boys are familar to us.
I sincerely hope the school counselor is working closely with the kids that were on the bus. I would imagine they are having a rough time after wittnessing such a horrific accident.
Our prayers are with all the families that have been touched by this.

Ok, I came back and took a second look at this because it bugs me and I felt like my previous reply was not very christian like.
So according to you the family is claiming that the bus came into their lane. Does the police report and witness statements reflect that?
How is all this going to help the family that lost their loved one? Is this going to bring them comfort or bring him back? All the $ in the world is not going to make the situation any less heartbreaking. It is what it is...
I still stand by what I posted before in that I can't believe the gall of some. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of losing someone so young and unexpectedly but vengenace is a very evil and unfulfilling thing....
God Bless Everyone Touched By This,

I begin to wonder if there is no decency left in our society.
WebMaster, this entire thread should be deleted. It is, for the most part very offensive!
