OK - my son's dumb dog apparently didn't learn the last time she tangled with a skunk. We were awakened at 5:00 AM to an awful smell. Yep - the dog got sprayed AGAIN. :banghead:

Michelle ran to HEB and picked up hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and Dawn dishwashing liquid. I then spent an hour in the bathroom with a ripe dog scrubbing the dog down with the concoction, letting it soak in for several minutes, rinse and repeat. We're getting too good at this.
What a great start to Labor Day! :cursing:

Tip for next time--Try bathing the dog in the descenting hunting shampoo. The carbon works wonders.

Maybe we should get some of that to have on hand. Where can you get it? Academy?

You can get it at any sporting goods store. Wal-mart usually carries it in the hunting section. Bowhunters use it to descent. Husband was sprayed by a skunk bowhunting once and used it when he got back to camp. One quick shower did the trick, then we bagged up the clothes and washed them with the laundry dtg when we got home. They also came out great.

I was in the same situation last month. The dog raced in the house and rolled at 3 am in my bed. My entire room and clothes were so bad we had to finish out sleeping in the car. I quickly purchased these and have them shipped overnight. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THEY ACTUALLY WORKED LIKE IT SAID THEY DID. http://www.biocidesystems.com/roomshocker1.html So worth the money!!!
I walked out the door at 4:30 am last week and there was a skunk right at my FRONT DOOR! I turned around and slammed the door FAST! Then the skunk scurried away with his tail high up in the air.
I suppose we might want to keep a concoction on hand for us humans too just in case...
My dogs are in at night so hopefully don't have to worry too much about them getting sprayed.
