Being the smallest school enrollment wise in the district will most likely continue the subpar record of previous years. Marble Falls stayed 4A by about 30 students and most likely wind up as Homecoming games for the rest of the district. Some schools adjust their numbers to insure that they fall below the threshold of going into a higher enrollment district. As far as I know, there is no oversight committee to insure that these numbers are not manipulated to insure fair competition for their programs. Lampassas has been a whipping boy in Class 4A for several years, but now that they will be a big boy enrollment wise in 3A, look for them to post considerable improvement. Marble Falls would fair very well in 3A, but 4A doesn't offer much success for a bunch of great kids.

When I saw the list I had the same impression, that the teams would be in for quite a struggle. I didn't know though that we missed by 30 students....next time (in 2 years...) I say the school district takes a census and if we're that close kick out some kids during the census  and then bring them back after the realignment.....:brows:

Nose; From what I understand and have been told, that is the policy of the day at Burnet. I would like to know if there is any oversight on the reported figures to prevent things like this from happening and perhaps leveling the playing field. I have made a tongue in cheek suggestion that we build another high school, split the student body, and drop down to 3A or maybe even 2A. There's no way that we can compete with the schools around the Austin area. Lake Travis should have gone to 5A but again, some manipulations of numbers kept them in the fold. Athletics is a numbers game, and while our kids have heart, they don't have the numbers to survive a brutal 10 game schedule. Right now, I believe everyone will be playing for second place behind Lake Travis. We report kids in the alternative schools as part of our total enrollment. I've been told that other schools in our area do not. Who do you believe? Without oversight, who can you believe?

Sabrered, I sure hope there's some kind of oversight on things like this. I wonder if someone from the MFISD would post something and let us know exactly what is in place to prevent scams from being run. And you're right MF doesn't have the numbers to compete with Lake Travis, Cedar Park et al.
