Would it be possible to discuss the current primary candidates without viscious/slanderous comments?

It is easy to research State/Fed candidates but not so with the new County Candidates.
I know the encumbents , but never heard of the newcomers.

Can we get some info/comments/opinions on any of them within the bounds of good taste?

More then likely you will see BIO info in the papers as the elections get nearer.. Newcomers are Welcome IMO. Get some fresh blood in office and preferably those who Will adhere to the Consititution and not the Corporation.

So if you are running and watch this forum.;).WILL you adhere to the Consititution??

Thanks Caretaker, but when I ran for office the newspapers called and ask me to send them my bio. I could have told them anything and besides I thought I was pretty terrific :D!

I want to hear from people who know them, have worked with them, had them for neighbors, had them for enemies; you know the drill.

I am all for rooting out the bad politicians, but not at the risk of getting worse than we had.

We need a local Glen Beck!

You are very correct. When I ran the same thing no one ever checked out information that you gave them, asked for proof, etc. You could have told them anything and they would print it as truth and this is a scarry deal. I hope that folks check on folks that are running request information, etc. and receive enough information to make a "informed decision" and not just go by what they hear, read, or don't read.

The filing for the 3 seats on the Marble Falls City Council will be starting shortly. I beleive that filing starts this Staurday February 6th.
Folks need to consider running if they are not happy with the present administration and the past decisions.
If you don't make the attempt there will be no changes and things will continue to run as usual.

I have not decided to run at this time. I want to test the waters so to speak to see if there is the support and if people are still happy with the decisions they made last year and the year before.

You are right. Filing does begin this Saturday.. There are 3 seats open. I highly doubt there will be much support.Remember there were only 645 votes cast last year..MFs has what about 4k to 5k registered voters.. There needs to be some running who are fed up with frivilous spending or one sided agendas..Wont happen though..At this moment you could sign up and win just by putting your name on the ballot.Wont be any competition unless old council members come back.. I will make you a prediction. At least 2 people maybe 3,who file to run will have served on the council before.Watch the list and see if I,m right.

The original poster was looking for information on the Burnet County races. Please keep it on topic. If you want to start a new topic to discuss the Marble Falls city elections, then please do so in the appropriate category.

In the menu bar above. Click Forums. See City Topics? Marble Falls is a subforum of that category.

I am amazed at the lack of response to my query.

Not even a single candidate responded.

No wonder we have such bad representation when all one has to do is stick a sign in the ground and submit their own biography.

I live in Granite Shoals and I have yet to have anyone knock on my door and ask for my vote. EVER!
So much for voter turnout !

I'm not surprised by the lack of response, if you think about it there's not much they can say. For the most part the candidates are all from the same party, they pretty much have the same backgrounds, and over the years I've seen them all promise essentially the same things, it really seems more like a personality contest than any issues they seem (rampant generalization here...) very nervous about giving any specific platform or making any concrete proposals during their campaigns....

Toni, I am not sure the candidates currently running pay very much attention to this site on a daily basis. There are several current officials I know of that browse the site periodically and some regularly post. But as for candidates this time around, I don't think they're aware of the discussion.

If you don't already know her, I would like the honor of introducing you to Cynthia Chisholm, Democrat for Burnet County District Clerk. Cynthia is a very good friend and will make an excellent District Clerk. She has her B.A. and M.B. A. and over 25 years experience in management. Please see her WEB site at cynthiachisolm.com for further details and be prepared to vote for Cynthia Chisolm for District Clerk in November.

OK, here's a plan. We can start campaigning to remove ALL incumbants. This should draw some defense from them and their supporters. Then the challengers should step up to the plate........

Go for it Chipper!
We are about 3 weeks from voting, less for early voting, and no candididate has taken the challenge to talk about themselves here or candidate supporter endoesements.

All that seems to ever happen is complaints after the fact. No wonder our Country is in such jeopardy. It all starts at the grass roots. That's us.

March 2, 2010 , I hope you vote and more importantly, I hope you know who and what you
are voting for.

Republicans, independents, tea partiers, 12er's, birthers, etc. have you read the Propositions ?
They include Controlling Govt.Spending, Cutting Fed taxes, Public acknowledgement of God,to name a few.:soapbox:

What makes you think the candidates know anything about this forum or that it even exists?

Butch ,
Word of mouth, family, friends, opponents, supporters , etc.
I know of many Burnet County Officials who monitor this site daily. Some of them have to know some of the candidates. They are bound to support some of them.
What's the likelihood not a single candidate is aware of this site? ha
I posted my e-mail address about the Vets parade and celebration and the response almost crashed my computer.
Some of them know and are too afraid to post. Now who would vote for them?:(

I think people would be surprised to learn exactly how many people are aware of the site. I do know several officials who keep an eye on it, but who don't post. Look at the number of views on different threads and you'll get an idea of the traffic.

There are 19 people running for 10 spots for Judge of some kind, including the TX Supreme Court.
That's just on the Republican ballot. I haven't counted on the Democrat ballot.

A savvy friend pointed me to League of Women Voters web site and I found some good info about Judges.:)
I guess most of the county people running will lose my vote. Oh well, Straight party ticket doesn't do it for me.

I don't know how everyone else feels, but I am liking the candidates that keep things simple and to the point. Tell me what you can do for me...Don't tell me about all the wrong doings of everyone else. Mudslinging is just childish gossip. Casie Wills for District Clerk had done a wonderful job of making sure she is keeping things as clean on her end as possible. She's got my vote!

Having worked at the county with some of the new candidates here are some facts I know about three of the races - JP precinct 2, Dist. Clerk and County Treasurer.
JP2 - Tommy Headrick, well qualified, would probably do a decent job, but a definite member of the 'good ol' boys' club and speaks down to women. (If that matters to you) Lisa Whitehead, works in county attorney's office doing administrative work in court, no law enforcement or mediation background, only candidate who didn't sign the form that agrees to 'no negative campaigning'. Glad I don't live in that precinct, wouldn't want to have to make that choice.

District Clerk - Casie Wills, current chief deputy has been pretty much running that office, including managing personnel, for the last 3 years, worked there for 5 years. Knows how to stand her ground when challenged without being aggressive, but open minded and fair. She's been doing a great job and is well liked by most everyone. What she doesn't know, she makes a point to learn, has a great work ethic and she loves the job. Obvious choice to me.
Sheila Frazier, works in Dist. Judge's office as court coordinator. Nice person, more follower than leader. Not sure how she would handle the staff management part of the job. Pretty big jump from working for a strong judge (who monitors these forums regularly) to being the boss and running an office. Just don't think she has the skills or the personality. Didn't care for her mailout last week which incorrectly included Casie as being involved in controversy that DeBerry caused. That's the kind of negative campaigning that I personally can't stand. If you want the job, fine, but don't make up stuff about your opponents. In the end it makes you look desperate.
Dana DeBerry - incumbent. The original post was for info about newbies but I have worked with her. We've all read the papers and know the stories. I will just say, having been there, I've seen that side of her first hand. Not good. Time for a change.

County Treasurer - Karrie Crownover, currently working in County Clerk's office, so she has knowledge of the workflow with the Treasurer's office and the rest of the county. Good with the public, very friendly.
Betty Trapp, incumbent - some find her difficult to get along with, had no problems with her personally. Got my paychecks on time...

Hope this helps.

I first met Casie Wills almost 20 years ago @ church camp. Casie is a wonderful friend & although I have never had the opportunity to witness her in a professional environment, she carries herself with dignity in her daily life outside the office. I can not image Casie as anything other then perfect for the position of District Clerk..... Please give Casie your support, I am positive that she will make you proud!

To all my politically concerned friends - if you go back to my posting (#12 in this heading) of 2/05, I introduced you to a very good friend, Cynthia Chisolm. Cynthia is a candidate for District Clerk and a very fine lady whom we have known for some time. We think she will make an excellent District Clerk becaise of her experience in management, her education, and her ability to work with people. Perhaps you missed this posting before, bit I encourage you to consider it now, check cynthiachisolm.com for further details, and vote for Cynthia Chisolm in November. Thanks for your consideration. Dear Poster,

Tommy Headrick does NOT talk down to women. He's a personable, well-qualified, friendly and respectful candidate who is undeserving of such a vague, opinionated judgment.

CASIE WILLS has my vote!!!
Casie is a very caring & true person who knows what it takes to run the District Clerk's office. Not only is Casie the Chief Deputy, she has also worked every type of case that has come through the door. Being second in command is not an easy job, but from her first day as "chief," Casie has taken every challenge head on. She is the one that trains the new clerks and the one everyone comes to when they have questions. I don't think she would be in that position if she didn't know what she was doing. Casie has the experience and is ready to take the next step and be your next District Clerk.

What started out as a thread that asked "Would it be possible to discuss the current primary candidates without viscous/slanderous comments?" Has somehow turned into an 'elect Casie Wills' thread. I'm impressed how the campaign has managed to get so many people to register for the site just to promote her candidacy, its rare that we see so many 1st and 2nd time posters...

So,why don't you guys buy a banner ad and help support the site? I'm sure Chris would be happy to sell you space....

nosefornews sounds to me like he should run for office instead of sitting on this thing all day long. Come on, get a life man!! Why would you be impressed with all of the people that have registered for this sight? Just goes to show you how many folks support CASIE WILLS!

Obvious choice in my mind as well. Casie Wills is the 'Will Muschamp' of that office.
Coach Muschamp is ready, but may have to wait. Casie Wills is ready. Her waiting should be over!!

"Real Leaders Are Ordinary People
With Extraordinary Determination!"

I would suggest that each vote for Casie Wills is a step towards a new
and more successful District Clerk's Office.
